On September 15th, ACHE-WI Leadership Development Program hosted a 90 minute “Coaches Panel” to offer an opportunity to gain perspective from the ACHE-WI Leadership Development Program alumni. This panel was a new addition to the Leadership Development Program curriculum. The panel members answered a series of questions that offered insight into what participation in the Leadership Development Program has provided and an opportunity to gain diverse perspective on leadership, career advancement and networking. The coaches offered advice to early careerists, many books to reference and quotes to live by. Some of the inspiring feedback and advice included:
- Train your replacement
- Take the time for the things that matter to you
- Seek first to understand and then to be understood
- Having an empty seat is better than the wrong person in the seat
- Don’t burn bridges
- Know yourself
- Have an open mind and form your own opinions
- Invest in yourself
- People don’t always remember what you have done but they do remember how you made them feel
