Kara attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison and graduated with a BS in Spanish. After working for several years in clinical research, she moved to Minneapolis to pursue her dual graduate degrees of MHA and MBA at the Carlson School of Management in 2006. After completing an Administrative Fellowship and Clinic Manager position with Park Nicollet Health Services, the motto “Once a Badger, Always a Badger” lead her back to Madison where she worked at Dean Health System as the Clinical Manager of the Neurological Institute and Spine Center. From there she excitedly took the leap back to academic medicine, joining the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health’s Department of Surgery in 2010 as the Manager of Vascular Surgery where she managed the Vascular Surgery Clinic and worked closely with the Division Chief on program development and strategic planning for the Division. In January of 2014 Kara became the Associate Administrator and Director of Clinical Operations for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Wisconsin, and has thoroughly enjoyed the change to ObGyn and learning all that comes with the specialty.
Kara enjoys spending time and traveling with her family – her husband and three young kids. And if there’s any remaining time, she loves to shop and read, preferably anywhere quiet and alone.
