Nick Ladell will be the moderator. Nick Ladell, PharmD, MBA, BCPS Director of Pharmacy, Aurora West Allis Medical Center Nick graduated from University of Wisconsin – Madison. After working as an inpatient clinical pharmacist at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center, he started his PGY1 Pharmacy & PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration Residency at Aurora Health Care. After completing his residency, he became the Director of Pharmacy for Aurora West Allis Medical Center. Just recently, he obtained his Master in Business Administration from University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. He is highly involved in improving patient care and helping caregivers reach their career goals.

Madalyn Buschman and Wendy Horton will be the presenters.

Madalyn Buschman, MHA, CPCS – Currently holds the role of Manager, Strategic Operations Development for Optum Serve Health Services Clinical Operations. In this role, Madalyn is responsible for the operations management, strategic and operational planning, and implementation/expansion of programs within Clinical Operations. Madalyn attended the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse where she completed her undergraduate degree in Sociology with concentrations in Pre-Professional Physical Therapy and Military Science, and earned a Master of Healthcare Administration from Ashford University in 2013. Madalyn joined OSHS in June 2010, and has served in various roles including Credentialing, Accreditation & Regulatory, Business Process Improvement and Clinical Operations Manager. Madalyn has been a member of the ACHE since 2019 and is currently participating in the Wisconsin Chapter’s Leadership Development Program.

As Chief Operating Officer, Wendy Horton is responsible for managing the daily operations of UVA Health. She stepped into this role in March 2020 to assist in the organization’s response to the crisis of the coronavirus pandemic. In addition to the vital services that deliver patient care, Horton’s oversight includes the continued implementation of critical quality and safety measures. Her role affords her the opportunity to facilitate innovative initiatives and optimize clinical operations, priming the organization for future strategic success.

With over a decade of academic medical center experience, Horton has developed robust clinical and operational expertise. As Chief Administrative Officer at Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center, she helped transform both structure and culture to elevate the quality of patient care, education and research throughout the College of Medicine and Faculty Group Practice. During her 12 years on the senior leadership team at the University of Wisconsin, Horton led successful clinical growth and quality improvement initiatives. While serving as the UW Health Vice President of Operations, she drove the development and activation of a new hospital.

Horton received a master’s in business administration in marketing and finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She also holds a doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Utah. Horton is a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
